A known is 80% less critical.
Risk assessment is used to identify problems in a machine, system or process so to prevent decreasing performances or manufacturing stops.
Risk analysis helps team management: given that risks are sorted by their impacts impact, actions of the group get priorities to solve first of all the most critical problems.
Here some criteria useful to choose the type of analysis:
  • at the beginning of the project, a general analysis is done to identify the principal risks and how to solve them. Risk assessment and FMEA (=Fault management & effects analysis) are useful tools to name a risk, define its critical effects and specify actions to reduce it.

  • after a preliminary analysis, usually some risks are identified as most critical and it is necessary to better study them. Then, we can use the FTA (=Fault Tree Analysis) to specify all the causes that can generate the problem and to create a model of the risk. With the model, the probability of the defect can be calculated.
